In the constant search for healthy snacks, I got a chance to try out Bobo’s Oat Bars.
The one I tried is gluten-free, vegan and made with organic ingredients. Don’t let all that frighten you off. It was delicious! I’m not vegan or gluten-unfriendly, but I do like healthier snacks when I can find them. It makes me feel good about what I’m eating.
Mine was Maple Pecan flavored and tasted like a soft stack of pecan pancakes with maple syrup all over them. YUM! They have fourteen different flavors, four of them being gluten-free.
It also came with some pretty happy stats:
Calories 190, Fat 7g, Cholesterol 0g, Sodium 20mg, Carbs 27g, Fiber 3g, Protein 3g
The serving size is 1/2 the bar and I ate the whole thing, so keep that in mind when you look at the label. To be honest, I don’t mind almost 400 calories for breakfast though (that’s when I ate mine) and to double everything else seems fine to me, too. The only thing that would make you jump a little if you watch that sort of thing is the number of carbs when you double it. But again, I’m not worried about it as long as I eat it early in the day and those carbs get used. I could also say that 6g of protein isn’t quite enough for a meal… but this thing would be extra superb if you had a glass of milk or warmed some vanilla soy milk to go with it.
You can buy them online by the case. They average $2.50 – $3 per bar depending on which ones you select. Considering I felt satisfied after one, I would say that’s worth the price, especially with the health benefits of oats, nuts and healthy oils.
Bottom Line: I would absolutely buy them again. I would eat them for breakfast or a morning snack, happily.
